Adaptogens

Feeling fatigued and stressed out? Lately our lives have been turned around with the new adjustments from working at home and homeschooling virtually, to starting a new business out of survival.

We all have been adapting and making the best of our situations. This has been a lot to handle and resulting in an unbalanced body with physical ailments and weight gain. The emotional results have increased anger, anxiety, and depression.

Many patients ask me what I do and also what I take during high stress times. A frequently asked question I get is, what are adaptogens? Of course, my daily supplements for well being and immunity are: Vitamin B, C, D, magnesium, zinc and omegas.

I make my own mix of superfoods and adaptogens and mix them into my coffee or smoothies daily. A good positive mindset, whole foods, sleep, regular exercise, meditation and Qi Gong are essential for me as well to stay balanced.

Adaptogens are a variety of non-toxic herbs, roots, and fungi that work to balance or "adapt" the body's immune and endocrine systems to restore the body to its normal homeostasis. Like a swinging pendulum adaptogens will bring you back to center and help cope and adapt.

There are many adaptogens and they can be overwhelming on which ones to take. I recommend an adaptogen blend. Most herbs work better when working together synergistically. They are protective or nourishing in nature and increase your resistance to chemical, physical and biological stresses.

Adaptogens are safe and typically have no side effects. They have been used for centuries in Oriental, Ayurveda and Native American medicine.

Adaptogens are known for having the broadest spectrum healing properties at a cellular level.
Always consult with your healthcare practitioner for suggestions on what may be the right choice for you.

Check in with yourself and connect with your true self. Herbs can help but cannot undo poor lifestyle habits. You have the power to overcome obstacles. Emotions are not your true self or your essence. Emotions come and go. Practice finding your way to your true self.
